7 Nights · Private Dive Week
A 7-Night Belize Scuba Diving Itinerary at Casa Al Mar
For divers, Casa Al Mar is your own island base on the Belize Barrier Reef, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the second-largest reef system in the world. Over seven nights, your week takes in two-tank reef dives, a day at Hol Chan Marine Reserve, and a guided night dive, with a slower surface-interval day before you fly. Uncertified guests can certify right at the house. The diving runs with a PADI-certified operator; your private chef, the boat, the transfers, and the island home are the stay itself.
Casa Al Mar is a private, fully-staffed island home on St. George's Caye, yours for one group of 8 to 14. Arrival is easy: land at BZE, ride 20 minutes to the Belize City dock, then 20 minutes by private boat to the caye, with no domestic flight. The diving starts the next morning, so the first evening is yours to settle in.
The dive program over the week
Three two-tank Belize Barrier Reef dive excursions
One two-tank dive at Hol Chan Marine Reserve
One guided night dive
Certification at the house for uncertified guests (about two days)
Diving is arranged with a PADI-certified dive operator and priced separately from the house. [DIVE OPERATOR: name + link to be added.]
Day 1: Arrival and Island Welcome
Arrive at Belize's International Airport (BZE), where your host greets you and coordinates the short transfer to Belize City. From there, board your private boat for the 20-minute ride to St. George's Caye. Settle into your island home, meet your guide and staff, take a dip off the east dock, and enjoy a relaxed welcome dinner overlooking the Caribbean Sea. Over dinner, you'll talk through the week's diving with your operator: the weather, the sites, and what everyone most hopes to see.
Day 2: Your First Day on the Reef, Two-Tank Dives
After breakfast, head out for your first two-tank dive along the Belize Barrier Reef Reserve System. Vibrant coral formations, reef fish, rays, and turtles fill the morning before you head back to the house for lunch. The afternoon is yours: kayak around the caye, swim from the dock, or simply rest. Sunset cocktails and dinner on the balcony close the day.
Day 3: More Time on the Reef
A second two-tank dive on a different stretch of reef, chosen by your operator. Non-divers can snorkel nearby reef sites or spend the day fishing, exploring the island, or relaxing at the house. Back to Casa Al Mar for dinner and an evening under the stars.
Day 4: Hol Chan Marine Reserve, a Dive and Snorkel Day
Travel north to Ambergris Caye for a two-tank dive at Hol Chan Marine Reserve, known for its marine life and excellent visibility. Depending on conditions, your operator may add nearby sites within the reserve. After the dives, swim and snorkel at Shark Ray Alley with the nurse sharks and stingrays before the ride back to your island home.
Day 5: Relaxation, Fishing, and a Night Dive
Take a slower day after several dives. Fish, snorkel, island-hop, or settle in for a sandbar lunch, with the afternoon at your group's pace. Later, head out with the operator for a guided night dive and the reef after dark, as the nocturnal marine life comes out. If you land a catch, Chef Estevan can cook it for dinner.
Day 6: Your Last Day on the Reef, a Final Two-Tank Dive
Your final two-tank dive of the trip. By now your operator knows the group, so the sites match what you have loved most, whether that means revisiting a favorite reef or exploring a new stretch. The afternoon is free to relax and toast a good week of diving.
Day 7: Surface Interval, Belize at Your Own Pace
With your flights home approaching, today stays dive-free, a comfortable surface interval before you fly. Spend it snorkeling, fishing, kayaking, swimming from the dock, visiting a nearby caye, or over a leisurely sandbar lunch. Gather one last time for a farewell dinner on the front lawn, under the stars.
Day 8: Departure
After breakfast, board your private boat back to Belize City and transfer to BZE for your flight home.
