The House at Casa Al Mar

Designed for multi-generational families & small groups

Just 20 minutes by boat from Belize City, Casa Al Mar is a six-bedroom island home on historic St. George’s Caye designed for groups of 8–14 guests who want to experience Belize together under one roof. Originally built in 1991 as a multi-generational family retreat, the home was thoughtfully designed to bring people together while still providing space to relax and unwind.

In 2020, the owners began welcoming guests to share in the experience. Today, the entire property is reserved for one group at a time—no shared facilities, no other guests, and no resort crowds. Instead, your stay includes a private chef, boat, captain, licensed guide, airport transfers, housekeeping, and personalized island adventures, all arranged for you.

Casa Al Mar remains family-owned and operated, supported by a dedicated Belizean team, many of whom have been with the property since it first opened to guests. Over the years, the home has evolved with thoughtful touches for families and groups, including a children’s sandbox, fish-cleaning station, outdoor showers, and a coconut husking table where guests can enjoy fresh coconut water straight from the tree.

Shared Spaces

Comfort notes for older guests, kids, and mixed-age groups.

  • Casa Al Mar is a three-story island home and all guest rooms are accessed by stairs. For older guests or families with younger children, the second floor is often the most convenient option since it is where most shared spaces, dining, and gathering areas are located, minimizing the need to go up and down throughout the day.

  • Because of the home’s multi-level design and stair access, Casa Al Mar is unfortunately not wheelchair accessible at this time. We are always happy to discuss the layout with guests in advance to help determine if the property is the right fit for their group.

  • The 1st and 3rd floor bedrooms feature private bathrooms, while the second floor bedrooms share connecting bathrooms. Many families with children and groups of friends appreciate the second-floor setup, as it allows everyone to stay close together.

  • Casa Al Mar welcomes families traveling with little ones. With advance notice, we can provide a crib, highchair, and baby bath to help make packing and travel easier. Younger guests especially love the sandbox, calm swimming areas at sandbars, and gated open outdoor spaces around the property.

  • Teens often enjoy the independence and variety of activities available at Casa Al Mar, from kayaking and snorkeling to fishing, swimming off the dock, and exploring the island with the group. The house layout also gives older kids and teens space to spread out while still staying connected with family and friends throughout the trip.

  • Many older guests appreciate the relaxed pace of island life at Casa Al Mar, with easy access to shaded outdoor seating, hammocks, calm boat rides, and comfortable gathering spaces throughout the property. The short transfer from Belize City and personalized pace of excursions also make the experience easier and more flexible than many larger resort-style vacations.

  • Casa Al Mar was designed and built to embrace Belize’s natural Caribbean environment and does not have air conditioning. Instead, the home relies on constant sea breezes, open-air design, ceiling fans, and shaded outdoor spaces to keep the atmosphere comfortable and relaxed throughout the day and evening.
